Aren’t You Tired of the Bullshit?

I am amazed at the number of experts there are about PTSD. And here’s the funny part—none of them have it. Oh, they claim they do, but if you are a PTSD/CPTSD survivor, you can hear the bullshit in seconds.

Yes, I’m talking about quite a few “trauma-informed” therapists, but the general populace walking around is worse. Some think they have PTSD, others assume expertise because of familiarity through a loved one, and still others are the “well, I read about it, therefore I’m an expert.”

IT’S ALL BULLSHIT.

And here’s why: those of us with PTSD are struggling to just meet the day and so we outsource our “understanding” of PTSD to others. And why not?

  • Therapists are supposed to know what I’m going through.

  • My best friend wouldn’t mislead me.

  • Dr. van der Kolk knows what he’s talking about in The Body Keeps the Score.

All of these are true at a glance, but broken when put into context. Some therapists are stuck in therapeutic modalities or philosophies from 30 years ago. Loved ones always mean well, but no one knows your mind better than you. Lastly, brilliant scientists like Dr. van der Kolk did write a masterpiece that currently influences modern trauma therapy. Problem is, if you’re not a psychiatrist, neuroscientist, or are just plain mentally wore out, you won’t fully comprehend work like his.

And this is why I wrote The Imprint’s Echo.

It’s for people who are already overloaded.

If you’re living with PTSD, you’re carrying a constant load—whether you realize it or not. Not just from the big things, but from everything. A look that feels wrong. A tone that hits sideways. A room that suddenly feels unsafe for no clear reason. Your body reacts before your mind can catch up, and now you’re burning energy just trying to stay upright.

Then there’s the internal weight:

·         Why can’t I stop being this way?

·         Why do I react like that?

·         Why do I know better, but still do it anyway?

·         Why do I feel guilty afterward—even when I didn’t mean to hurt anyone?

Can we pack more shit on, please?!?!

Ready for the “AHA!” moment?

You can’t recover from PTSD while you’re overloaded.
